• Assemblyman James Brennan, who is co-sponsoring legislation to halt this drilling.
The hydraulic fracturing drilling process releases toxic and carcinogenic chemicals, and could endanger NYC's water supply. There will be Q & A with the speakers after the lecture.

I went to a meeting about this last week & that bill was just sort of mentioned in passing, as something that's being taken care of in Congress - but I can't find any reference to action on it after it got referred to a subcommittee in September '08.
You are right that the last action on H.R. 7231 was to refer it to the
Subcommittee on Environment and Hazardous Materials on Sept. 29, 2008. That's all we know about it as of now.
